Visiting Position: Designer in Residence, University of Illinois Department of Graphic Design
The Graphic Design Program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a one year position from August 16, 2009 - May 16, 2010.
Our program is in search of an emerging designer who has recently earned their MFA in Graphic Design and who has something interesting to say. The ideal candidate is someone who desires to further develop their work within the context of a university setting and teaching environment. This opportunity is aimed to be a test bed for scholarly and creative activity, and should serve as a springboard into a tenure track position at an academic institution or back into the professional design world.

Application:
Candidates should be within three years of earning their MFA in Graphic Design and have a desire to apply and further refine their research and practice in conversation with current Graphic Design faculty and undergraduate students. Eligible candidates should send:
1. Letter of interest
2. Current vitae
3. Contact information for three references
4. Abstract of thesis accomplished for MFA
5. Detailed proposal for one topic studio course for upper level undergraduate students (to be taught in the spring). This studio should reflect your thesis work or current research interest, but should be broad enough to appeal to advanced undergraduate students.
6. Portfolio of work: Submit one Mac-compatible CD/DVD containing 10 digital samples of work saved in jpeg format (for images) or quicktime (for video) and named using the following convention: "lastname01.jpg" or "lastname01.mov". Images should be optimized for screen media (72dpi) and be no larger than 2MB each. Video should not exceed 100MB each.
