The International Council of Graphic Design Associations (Icograda) is the world body for professional communication design. Founded in 1963, it is a voluntary assembly of associations concerned with graphic design, visual communication, design management, design promotion and design education. Icograda promotes communication designers' vital role in society and commerce and unifies the voices of graphic designers and visual communicators worldwide.

Nili Portugali is a practicing architect working in Israel for more than 30 years and a lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa (until 2006 at the Bezalel Academy of Art & Design, Architectural Department, Jerusalem). Her work has focused on both practice and theory, and is tightly connected to the holistic-phenomenological school of thought.
She is a graduate of the Architectural Association School of Architecture (A.A), London (Diploma 1973). She studied architecture and Buddhism at the University of California, Berkeley, U.S.A (1979-81), and worked and participated in research with Prof. Christopher Alexander at the Center for Environmental Structure, Berkeley California.
Portugali has won prizes in competitions; she is invited to lectures in international conferences and participates in various exhibitions in Israel and abroad. She has published many articles on architecture and her work is documented in professional magazines, in the press and on television. She was Member of Special Committee for the authorization of schools of Architecture in Israel at the Council for Higher Education.
She has just published her new book which was selected among the 24 books of the year by RIBA International Book Award Architecture Prize 2007

Design Wales provides design support for Welsh business and undertakes a wide range of activities to encourage and develop the use of design in Welsh industry and education

This site is intended to be used as a resource for industry, education and individuals interested in finding out more about design. In addition to details about our services for industry you will find information about our events, have access to our resources and presentations and information on a range of design topics compiled by our team of specialist design advisors, all of whom are experienced designers.
Design Wales provides a free and independent design support service for Welsh industry.

Design Support is the provision of advice, focused promotion, facilitation and mentoring to raise awareness of design issues and to help individual businesses make the most of design.

Our team of advisors are all experienced designers who will help to introduce or develop the use of design within a business but will not actually undertake the design work itself.

To ensure we operate best practice we continuously monitor design support and promotion around the world. Design Wales is currently the lead partner in a network of European design support organisations called SEEdesign.

All of our activities are funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and provided free of charge to Welsh businesses.

Our key activities can be divided into three categories:

* For industry;
Design support for businesses in Wales with four levels of service that includes workshops, events, an enquiry line and one to one design advice.

* For education:
The provision of case studies for school education.
An annual competition for design students in Wales – the Ffres Awards.
An annual national seminar for design students held in October.


For the design sector:
An on-line design directory of design expertise in Wales.
Regular events on topical issues and by leading designers.
Support for the Cardiff Design Festival.
