Jobs (2): Deans - Design, Arts University, Cornwall, UK

Positions (2): Dean of  School of Art & Design and Dean of School of Media & Performance, University College,  Falmouth, UK. Salaries: not less than £75,000 + benefits. Closing date Monday 1st March 2010. Interviews for these posts will take place on the 22 - 24 March 2010. As part of our plan to become the Arts University Cornwall, we are establishing two, fully-devolved academic Schools. These large, cognate units will minimise structural inhibitors to inter- and multi-disciplinary work and, by virtue of their scale, justify the management infrastructure necessary to empower them to respond quickly and effectively to a rapidly changing environment. The management teams of both Schools will be expected to work closely with their counterparts and also with key colleagues in central, professional services to strengthen organisational networks and uncover new opportunities for collaborative and effective working.

School of Art & Design
Falmouth's Art & Design programmes - particularly in Fine Art, Illustration and Graphic Design - have earned justifiable reputations over many years for the quality of the graduates they produce. Recent additions to the portfolio in, for example, Fashion and Performance Sportswear Design, have added to the School's momentum and we now seek a Dean to realise the new School's full potential. Comprising a Department of Art & Visual Communication (largely based at our historic Woodlane Campus) and a Department of Design (based in the award-winning, open plan studios of the Design Centre at Tremough Campus), the School will support approximately 1500 students by 2013.

School of Media & Performance
Falmouth was one of the first institutions to become an industry-accredited Skillset Media Academy - a designated centre of excellence in practice-orientated media education and training. The professional body  praised our close collaborations with media businesses, the excellence of our staff teams, and the quality of our purpose-built technical resource - thought to be one of the most impressive in the country. Adjacent to the Media Centre is the new Performance Centre - built to develop our Music, Theatre and Dance programmes once they re-locate from Dartington this summer. The collaborative potential between Media & Performance is clear and we have a real opportunity to distinguish our offer in both areas by bringing them together. The School of Media & Performance will comprise around 2000 students by 2013. Key programme areas include Digital Media, Photography, Film, Digital Animation, Music, Theatre, Dance, Writing, English, Journalism, PR and Advertising.

Appointees who meet the relevant criteria will be considered for Professorial titles.

Salaries: not less than £75,000 + benefits
